Mirabai Chanu and Sanjita Chanu emerge with golds at the Commonwealth Games

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, the 23-year-old became the most powerful woman in the Commonwealth Games when she lifted  in the categories of snatch (86kg), clean and jerk (110) and total (196kg) in the 48kg category in Commonwealth Games 2018 on Thursday.

Mirabai Chanu set a  Commonwealth Games record with each of her attempts. She dominated the field in the women's 48kg category. She had been training in Melbourne since March and her next goal is Asian Games.

If this was a reason enough to cheer, on day 2 weightlifter Sanjita Chanu won Gold in Weightlifting in women's 53 kg category. India had a great start this year with also Gururaja lifting a total of 249kg in Men's 56kg category winning Silver at Gold Coast in Australia for the 21st Commonwealth Games.
